Situated on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, east of the Golden Gate Bridge, Albany, CA has access to some of the most interesting metropolitan areas in the world. Still, despite being right on San Francisco Bay and part of the country’s most densely-populated areas, Albany does not feel like a big city.
Indeed, one could probably characterize Albany just by walking its main strip, Solano Avenue, a pedestrian-friendly zone populated by small businesses, some there for decades. In fact, at the annual “Solano Stroll,” the entire street is shut down to traffic, turning it into a mile of open-air fair and parade ground. Over 100,000 attend this annual event! Albany is also home to some of the best dining in the Bay Area.
Beyond the business district, most Albany residents live in single-family homes. Albany students have some of the highest test scores in the entire state! Outside of study and work, there’s always plenty to do in Albany. Community events keep this community close, and there are organized sports for all ages. Outdoor activities can be enjoyed by all, including parts of the San Francisco Bay Trail system, the Golden Gate Fields Race Track, and the new East Shore State Park. Walking, biking and hiking are always great family activities, whether along the bay or around the hills and creeks of the eastern shore.
Keep up with all of this, however, requires a reliable vehicle, whether providing delivery services, commuting to work, or getting away for the weekend. Not everyone has the time and training to take care of their own vehicles, so we suggest you consider Argonaut Garage for all of your auto repair and maintenance needs. We’re located just 10 minutes south of Albany in Berkeley.
