Signs That My Fuel Filter is Clogged
To prevent fuel filter clogging, have it changed at least once every 30,000 miles. This can be done at our auto shop. The fuel filter is changed to ensure that fuel flows freely from the pump into the engine. You may have the following issues with your car, truck, or SUV:
Difficult Starts
If there isn't enough fuel in your combustion chamber, it can make it difficult to get your car moving. A clogged fuel filter is one of the main reasons that fuel cannot make its way into the combustion chamber. It can also be difficult to start your engine if you have clogged injectors.
Failure
Even if your engine starts, it still needs to have a steady flow of fuel in order to function efficiently. Your engine will stop working if there isn't a steady flow of fuel. This could be because your fuel filter is clogging. The engine will cut out, and your vehicle will jerk when it cuts out.
Rough Idling
This is especially noticeable when the engine is idle. Because it isn't getting enough fuel, the engine will idle roughy. This issue cannot be solved by replacing the clogged fuel filter.
Stalling
Your engine may stall in extreme cases. Your engine may stall when you're driving, or at idle. You may find that your engine is struggling to start when you push down on the accelerator. These signs indicate that your engine is running low on fuel.
Whining
Problems with the fuel pump are another consequence of a blocked fuel filter. The fuel pump will work harder to push fuel through a clogged filter. You may hear your fuel pump whining inside your vehicle's tank.
Fuel Pump Failure
The fuel pump motor can become too hot and may fail. On average, a fuel pump lasts 100,000 miles. However, a fuel pump that is struggling with clogged fuel filters can fail and malfunction, leading to premature death. If you have any of these problems, bring your vehicle to us. If necessary, we will inspect your fuel filter and replace it if needed.
